Researching Problems Really Does Help

WordPress never ceases to amaze me.  As I was working on a new site this weekend I was having some major issues with things showing up Having Issuesproperly in Internet Explorer, 64 bit version. It seems that a plugin that I used before for slideshows was no longer working.  Thinking it was me (hey, it usually is) I researched and researched. I deleted and started over. I used new plugins. Still nothing worked. So I continued to research the web and even called a couple of people.  I’m not going to mention the original plugin right now because the developer is aware that there is a problem and that will be fixed in his next release. ( I wasn’t the only one having the problem) He’s very conscientious so I need to give him his due.  There is a temporary fix for it (that’s why I won’t mention it here) but I didn’t know about it until after I decided on a different plugin. WordPress Plug-in

Ever since I started working with WordPress™, I have always disliked the sidebar admin panel on the dashboard. For some reason, I have a mental block with finding things there..it just seems to take me forever and time is money.  Now maybe it’s just my brain not functioning right, you never know. Or at least, that’s what I’ve been told.  But never mind that, I just ignore the comments.

However, last year I went on a quest to find something that would make things easier for me. I tried a few things, but they didn’t seem to be any better.  But, I finally stumbled across the Ozh’ Admin Drop Down Menu plug-in.  I don’t know how I missed it. I can’t tell you how much I love this plug-in.  Now with every installation of WordPress™  the very first plug-in I install is this one. Talk about making my life easier!   Simply put, it puts all the WordPress™ admin links in a nice neat horizontal row at the type which I find easier to user.

But it does so much more than that. It gives me so much more real estate on the main page. Moving the admin bar from the side to the top makes so much sense to me.  There are some cool customizations that use can use also.

One of my favorite features is the actual drop down menu.  I don’t have to click on Pages and then click on Add new or Edit.  I can just click on whatever I need in the drop down and easy find what I need.

WordPress Plugins

Yep…An Addiction

Hi, my name is Sandy, and I’m addicted to WordPress™ plug-ins. And I’m also proud of it!

Some people watch movies in their spare time. Me?  I can spend hours browsing through all of the plug-ins and it never fails…. I find one for my list of those to try. I know, that’s really sad.  Gotta get a better life sometime.

Why am I addicted?  It seems that if I have found that if I want to do something with a WordPress installation I figure I can’t be the only one who has had the same desire.  And I’m right 98% of the time. A little searching and I find that someone has written a plug-in for me so that I can accomplish my task. Well, maybe they didn’t write it for me but sometimes it sure feels like that.
