What We Do and Why

Why Do I do It?

First, Why I Do It!

I know, this is probably backwards but I thought that it might help to understand the “why’”first. It used to be that when someone ask me what I did for a living,  I had to give it some thought. Throughout my career I’ve had many positions starting with customer service, teaching (business), course development, sales (large corporate accounts and small business), marketing, non-management and management. I’ve learned that throughout every step of my career I’ve always done networking. Every job I’ve had started with someone I’ve networked with along the line giving me a referral.

When working with McDonnell Douglas as a Director of Marketing, I purchased my first computer.  It wasn’t even a DOS system but it taught me that I also enjoyed technology and software. As I delved deeper into the  telecommunications market I realized I loved equipment and technology.

Some time ago I realized that the two of these areas(technology and networking)  fit very well together in today’s world.  Networking has always been in my blood and I look at social media as an evolution of all networking.  The internet offers an individual or company the ability to network like never before. The internet through websites also  give companies the ability to reach their potential customer base like never before.  This evolution has given me the ability to share my experience and knowledge with others.

However, I’ve learned that many people have a hard time bringing the two of these mediums together in a cohesive manner. And that is what I am now doing.

And Now the What

Social Media MarketingGet on the Bandwagon2

I work with each client to assure that they develop a strategy that works for them. Social media is a broad term that means many things to many people.  Finding what works for you in your world is the goal. Just because Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin are three of the top activities, it is by no means the only ones available. Who are your clients, where are they, what do they do, what is your target market? And most importantly what they really want? What is the best way to reach them? All of this is taken into consideration while working with the client to develop an appropriate strategy to ensure success. If the client is not comfortable with the choices, then it will not work. It is all about using the best methods available to build relationships.

WordPress

blue-lI believe that every company needs to have a website that works well with their social media and networking  strategies.  Many companies have websites that have been up for several years. Even websites have evolved and the old static website is no longer what works best.  My platform of choice for websites is WordPress™.

WordPress ™ is an open source platform that used to be associated with just blogs. However it has also evolved and can be used for full corporate sites, membership sites and just about anything else you can want. What I like best is that a site can be built with WordPress™ and be as simple or complex as you need. My favorite is that WordPress can built so that the client can maintain their own site if they choose to do so at a later time.  It is so mainstream that a well built site means that anyone who is familiar with WordPress™ (and there are many)  could step in and take over or assist. I’ve looked at several sites that were built with propriety methods which meant that only the person familiar with that method could work on them.  The worst part is that it normally drives  up the price considerably. So if you are interested in a site that you can maintain if you choose to and one that is right on target to capture today’s business, please contact us.
