WordPress Plugins

Yep…An Addiction

Hi, my name is Sandy, and I’m addicted to WordPress™ plug-ins. And I’m also proud of it!

Some people watch movies in their spare time. Me?  I can spend hours browsing through all of the plug-ins and it never fails…. I find one for my list of those to try. I know, that’s really sad.  Gotta get a better life sometime.

Why am I addicted?  It seems that if I have found that if I want to do something with a WordPress installation I figure I can’t be the only one who has had the same desire.  And I’m right 98% of the time. A little searching and I find that someone has written a plug-in for me so that I can accomplish my task. Well, maybe they didn’t write it for me but sometimes it sure feels like that.

Plug-Ins Are a Must!

Whatever your reasons, plug-ins are a must.  WordPress has given us a wonderful start to the creation of a great site. WordPress™ plug-ins enhance that capability so much it’s hard to measure.

I’ve decided that once a week I will do a post on one of my favorite plug-ins.  It’s going to be a challenge because there are so many that I like and use. In reality, I may use a plug-in only once but it may be the one plug-in that saved my life (so to speak) on that particular site.

My last post was about just a few on the plug-ins that I’m using on my new project, a WPMU installation. There are so many that I have found through my membership at WPMU DEV.  If you are planning a WPMU or BuddyPress site, I highly recommend you join the site.  Worth every penny.

New WordPress PlugIn Class Scheduled!

In fact, I believe so much in using plug-ins that my next WordPress™ 101 class is on plug-ins. This is a live class which will showcase some of the key plug-ins that are a must for every site but also a few that are unique but definitely have a place in my heart.  Primarily on live sites so that you can actually see what is happening.

Finding plug-ins can be a challenge sometimes but that’s part of what makes it fun. When I have a major problem while designing a site, sometimes I panic thinking “Oh no, I’m going to have tweak the code!”  But then I quickly remember plug-ins and after a search, I find one, install it and then it magically makes everything work the way I want. Or rather the way my client wants. And then we are all happy campers.

So if you are in the Dallas area and have a desire to know more about plug-ins for WordPress™, then I highly recommend this class.  It’s not being taught at a programmer/developer level but at a level that is easy for the non-programmer to learn. Hopefully though everyone can learn something.  At least that’s my goal!

So, if you have a desire to learn more and are in the Dallas area on June 27th, please consider attending my class.  In the future I may offer these classes via video but that is just in the planning stages right now.
